Working 9 to 5 – or wait.. 2 to 11? Freelance life in Europe.

I have been talking English the last two months – so I found it more natural just to write the blog in English this time. And I am not writing that much either – just showing some pictures from this lovely, exhausting, inspiring and hard working period.
I enjoy my work in the UK SO much – beautiful colleagues which happen to be GREAT singers too. I am very inspired by them and of course also by the great director Thomas Guthrie and conductor Robert Houssart. Thank you, guys!! =)

And one of my best friends from Lofoten FHS (2007-2008) lives in Charlbury – which is in the neighborhood of Longborough Festival Opera. What a coincidence, or not? I don’t know – but  it is truly wonderful and I feel supported in every way. Enough said – picture time!

Jenny found some cows - First day in Longborough. =) What a fairytale like scenery. Just beautiful!

And some pictures from the rehearsal period:

I am rehearsing the famous aria "deh vieni non trader" here - and I love it!! Susanna forgets her game, and sing the entire love song to her beloved husband, Figaro. <3

FINALLY THE PREMIERE; June 26th, 2016. We were very excited and here is a picture of me (as Susanna) and the wonderful Wendy Dawn Thompson (as Marcellina). The set is from the Downton Abbey period – I must say I like the style quite a lot. Everyone looks fab! And smells.. like roses, of course.

THE PREMIERE!! What a wonderful experience. We were totally excited and totally exhausted. Haha. Just great! The glamorous life of an opera singer. <3

I will now go back a month and show you a bit of France. We sang shows in both Nantes and Angers – beautiful venues. Nantes was my absolute favorite because of the pretty nature around and the long walks you could take by the river, or just meditate in the Japanese garden. The french people are very nice – but my french needs to improve! I realized that during the month I was there. SO – I will learn french this fall. Period. Seriously. Yep. I’m doing it. Oui, oui, bien sûr!

The wonderful japans inspired garden nearby the apart hotel in Nantes. Peaceful.

PREMIERE of SVADBA after 3 weeks of intense rehearsal. So challenging, weird, fun and developing piece. Thank you Festival d’Aix-en-Provence for making this happen and the wonderful and talented choreographer Zack Winokur.

That’s all for now – more exciting news to come in very near future though.

Thank you for reading! =) Have a GREAT SUMMER!
